Question Android 14 slow wakeup

When the screen is off, my Asus Zenfone 9 (Android 14) used to wake up instantly when I touched (not pressed) the start button. Now there is a noticeable and very irritating lag after I touch the button before the screen comes on and it sometimes seems to require an actual press of the button to wake it up (either that or the lag is so long I end up pressing the button out of frustration). Adding an edit here: I've confirmed that a touch often doesn't work - it just sits without response until I fully press the on button.

I have plenty of storage space - 187 GB. Can't seem to find RAM info on the phone.

Can anyone help resolve this problem? I have tried a "soft" reset (restarting the phone) without success.

Welcome to Android Central! Try booting into Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away: https://www.asus.com/support/faq/1005163/. If it does, then it's due to some 3rd party app you installed. The challenge then would be narrow down the culprit further -- sometimes you have to uninstall apps one by one until the problem goes away.
