Android 15 Availability

Ya should of been timed with the phone better. Maybe my nine 9 pro will have an early surprise if 15 pre installed. A benefit of preordering late.

I suspect Google will and should time this better next year and onward, but for now, am I the only one not bothered by this?

Our phones are already so stable, good, and feature-rich, I don't particularly mind if the next update is a little delayed to iron out any software bugs or issues.

Don't forget to check the August update if you haven't it's available on the 9 series

Why should it be timed with an Android update? I'm so happy that Google didn't wait until October to release the new Pixels. The phones are great with Android 14 also and happy to get the new toys so early instead of waiting till October. The Android 15 can happen whenever it's ready

No I mean the phone comes in August so should the update. Not wait for October for the phone. The os should of been ready by now as originally promised. Because then you don't have to upgrade and it's got the lastest os when you buy it. Especially for phones that only get 2 or three updates. Get the latest now and then get 2 or three more updates. So get 15, 16, and 17. Instead of getting 14 with the phon and then only 15 and 16 because that's all they give.

Pixel gets 7 years of updates though, so this shouldn't be a problem IMO. Don't get me wrong, it's not that I don't want the new phone with a new OS update. Definitely, that's ideal but I'm sure Google had their reasons, and was just glad it didn't delay the phone launch. And the phone is running great with Android 14.

I agree

Now but before it was only 3 years so it was important then. Maybe not anymore but once apon a time it was. And if they realize they can't do 7 years then they might make it less.

With you on this. I stopped caring about new OS's a couple years ago. Monthly security updates are what I care about. I'm not really a high maintenance user tho. Power yes , but I still appreciate the miracle capabilities of Pixel's.

I still remember no smart phones, no cell phones , no internet, even no pong.

I'm grateful that my new Pixel 9 Pro XL came equipped with a thoroughly tested and proven operating system. Based on past experience, purchasers using newly released models customarily encounter some glitches that need to be fixed or problems that need to be resolved with subsequent software updates -- a process that, IMO, Google has handled well. From my perspective, there's no good reason to compound the potential for flaws by layering the device's newly introduced features on top of an operating system that may not yet have been adequately tested.

I purchased two unlocked Pixel 9 Pro XL phones last week from Bestbuy, and they were running Android 14 out of the box. Any idea when 15 will be rolling out?

Downloading on my 9 Pro Fold as I type this. 1.07GB

Fingers crossed that there be minimal issues.

Ok I don't see much difference on Android 15 or I have Samsung stuck in my head that's overhauling its UI
