Android 2.3 Gingerbread Update For LG Optimus One (V maybe too)

Does it matter what LG says? We have phones that are updated and controlled by Virgin Mobile. If you've rooted why bother waiting for the unlikely scenario that VM will update when you can install one of MANY ROMs that are available out there, some of which I'm sure are Gingerbread based.

Not to mention the crapware they would add to their version....

Because the official source code from Gingerbread would make for a better and more stable rom.

I agree.

With a stable source code the rom making people can take advantage of the new features and also make it better. Even though AOSP is running 2.3.4, there are many bugs right now that is keeping me from using them.

the source code would mean we could create a customized version that doesnt have the bugs that aospcm7 has right now.

Just remember, aospCM7 is alot more than just 2.3.4, it's also CyanogenMod7, which gives it features that stock will never offer. ;)

Exactly what I was going to say. If you want you can wait around for VM to get off its butt and update but I would'nt hold your breath. Aosp is about a 100x better even with the bugs then anything VM will put out. The only reason I want to even see it happen so it can make the current roms that much better.

Re: Android 2.3 Gingerbread Update For LG Optimus One (V maybe to

Is there one forum or page to explain how to update Android on Optimus V (VM) ?

I find so many posts and threads with conflicting information and broken links to downloads I am now totally confused? :-\

I want to be able to install Flash 11 which is not compatible with 2.2 and I am thus unable to view many web sites. I also want to get rid of crap-ware to free space on internal memory.
