Hello,
I just want to know whether or not the Samsung Galaxy S2 will last long. Does it have a longer life span to go with future updates, or is 4.1 the last update?
Also, Are there any cases for the Samsung Galaxy S2 that are cheaper than Otterbox but have a similar quality?

S2 might end with JB but it depends on how the next version of Android is going to be.

if you are planning to buy s2 then i recommend buying Galaxy Nexus.

I already got the S2 a few days ago, and it seems pretty good. I just want to know if it's going to last long.

I would think the SGS 2 will end with JB if/when it receives it..

I can't really see Samsung putting further man hours and money into further development of upgrading the SGS 2 to KLP or beyond.

Its still a very capable device, the development community will continue to provide unofficial upgrades to JB and possibly even KLP when that becomes reality. I look back at the original Samsung Galaxy S Epic 4g and its still getting lots of love from the development community keeping it up to date with unofficial upgrades to JB as of right now.

I would look in to S III because it will most likely get support for few more years the previous S II.

For cases, try your local BestBuy store because I found several cheap cases here in Canada.

Go with the Otterbox (Commuter). they're worth it and they are tried and tested. AT&T has them for something like 50% off these days if you live in the US.

why worry about update when you can get custom rom(Cyanaogenmod) for s2 a couple more version of Android.

There are many nice things in the stock ROM that are missing from CyanogenMod. Like, does it have AllShare in the ROM? Some of us can't be bothered to root, install a custom rom, and then chase their versions/bug fixes as well. Better and less work to just stick with stock if it does what you need.

Still CyanogenMod is still a very good rom if you want the new "stock" Features. So when KLP (4.2) Comes out i will be putting it on my S2 that i have lying around :)
I can't see Sammy bringing it over though. Just no point.
