Android 7.1.1 was the end of the line for Nexus 6.

Well... it's not like they didn't warn us. 7.1 dropped right at the end of the 24-month window that Google has been quite open with. So after that, it was only a matter of time.

Still, it'll get security updates through 2017, and there's custom ROM development, so all is not lost.

Yeah but you can't drop a buggy realise at the last minute and then say oops your time is up....

Well... don't confuse point releases and updates. The 6 will get monthlies for another year, at minimum, and they can address bugs in those builds. You just won't get a bump in version.

So are we getting a fixed version of 7.1.1 (speakerphone fixed)?

I am still on 7.0 (with January security patches) as I only tend to update OTA.

If you're using an unlocked, unbranded N6 on AT&T, looks like the end of the line might be 7.0 on the October security patch lol :-\

At least that's something! When did you get that security update?
It was very weird. I received the January patch twice last month. I got a notification for the Jan patch on the 30th (just found where I posted about this and confirmed the date) but I had already received it the week before. I confirmed I was already on Jan and went ahead and took the update again. I can't totally be sure but I would swear the version number changed.
