Android 9, calendar and settings colors all messed up

[Android Central Question]

I can't seem to be able to change the settings for these colors anywhere but since my phone updated to Android 9, my text is grey and my backgrounds are white and no matter what theme or whatever I choose, those don't change and I can't read anything.

Welcome to Android Central! Which themes have you tried? Are they all preinstalled themes, or are they 3rd party ones you installed prior to the Pie update?
