Android annihilated BlackBerry sales at Verizon Wireless

Excellent story, but definitely not surprising. Android has exploded and is continuing a ridiculous growth rate. Long live Android!

Well there are what 3-4 Blackberry devices on verizon and like close to 10 android devices. Of course android is going to out sell them. especially since they haven't release blackberry 6 on verizon yet.

The other problem is that people want touch screen phones right now. On Verizon, Blackberry has 1, and it's not that great. Unless RIM adopts the popular market soon, they need to just back off and cater to the business user full on. The average consumer just isn't a Blackberry user anymore.

Give the business user an Evo, a decent Bluetooth implementation and a good office suite (DTG ain't bad, but nothing like it could be) and be done with it. My chief complaint with the Evo is I had to buy DTG in order to make it productive, and of course its Bluetooth functionality is horrible.

Bluetooth for whatever reason varies significantly across the entire Android platform, and it really shouldn't be that way. Android supports Bluetooth, and that should be the end of that. I wish we didn't have so many devices that have sketchy Bluetooth performance.

Well then go get an iPhone or a blackberry!

Naturally I'm joking. It would be nice to see some consistency with Bluetooth though.

HA! I came from a BlackBerry, you could never get me to go back.

But back on topic, what is even more frustrating is it always seems to come down to some sort of hardware/software conflict. Like, we've been making cell phones for how many years now with Bluetooth, and somehow this is still an issue?

Obviously I'm not going to sit here and complain about every little thing, I understand completely that no phone is perfect. But it definitely gets frustrating at times.

Sad to see RIM plummet like this but they brought it on themselves. I do not like to see a once strong competitor go down like this. It tends to slow down advancement in the competitors.

Also if you are in the stores, the reps will push Android over BB.

Yes and that is because the Android devices are the newer devices they are getting. If Blackberry would start making newer devices, the tables would be turned.

I too, came from a BB and got frustrated with the delay in OS 6.0 and the browser experience of 5.0.

I've actually even been told before that Verizon will occasionally run promotions with their employees where they will increase commission on all Android sales. Doesn't surprise me if that's the case.

Yep Verizon has seemed to given up on blackberry and focused on Android. That's why I switched. Even RIMS so called rumored devices that are being released next year still don't compete with the specs of androids.
