Android Auto and AOD

I'm coming from a Note 8, and when using the Note connected to my car with Android Auto, it would always leave the AOD on so I could see any notifications that came in for email, etc. This is not the case with the Pixel; the AOD turns off when connected to my car while using Android Auto.

I keep my phone in a mount in my car, and I like glancing over to see if I have any emails without having to power on the screen. Does anyone know a way to keep the AOD on while the Pixel is connected to a car and using Android Auto?

Don't think it's possible, that must be a Samsung tweak. I like that Android Auto silences all my notifications besides phone calls and texts and navigation, when I drive, it's so much more peaceful and probably safe.
