Android Auto at max media volume after use

I have Android Auto set to open every time I connect to my car's bluetooth. The bluetooth media volume gets set to the max before the headphones warning. That's all fine, but afterwards, after disconnecting, the regular media volume is at max. I don't understand why the media volume is even affected. Anyone else have this problem and know how to fix it?

Go to Settings, Sounds and Vibrations, uncheck Use Volume Key for Media.
