Android Auto Crashes every 10-15 minutes

I've had a very similar problem with mine. I have the Kenwood DDX9702S with my T-Mobile Note 4. It disconnects after 10-15 mins almost like it shuts off after warming up. I tried several cables including a couple new cables from Best Buy. I've found that the best cable for me has been a short 1FT cable that helps to keep android auto from disappearing.

I had a similar issue, with my Galaxy S4 and Pioneer 4100NEX. Replacing my USB cable with a high quality short one (thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-micro-usb-cable) fixed the issue for me. I purchased both the 1 foot and 3 foot version of the Monoprice cable in that article. Both work excellently.

Recently though I had a weird issue where the home screen (and only the home screen) above the "dock" would look like it was launching, then go to black, then launch, then go to black (the dock itself remained on the screen at all times). All the other screens were fine (map, phone media) and all functions worked (music streaming, map routing and rerouting, voice texting, etc.). I tried a bunch of things to get it to work ... I tried disconnecting and reconnecting my cable, restarting my phone, restarting the stereo by shutting off the car completely and then restarting it, and forgetting the stereo in my phone's bluetooth settings and then re-pairing. Nothing worked. I then tried uninstalling the android auto app, forgetting the car within the app, clearing the app data and cache. Still no go.

What finally did work was going into the bluetooth settings on the deck itself and deleting my phone from it's memory, then removing it from my phone's bluetooth list. Then I re-paired again and everything worked.

Just a head's up if anyone else has that weird problem. It's 2 days since I reset it and the problem hasn't resurfaced.

I found myself still having the same problems even with the short cable. I tried the 1 ft monoprice cable listed above and so far it's working great. Hasn't shut off yet after a couple trips. I will be taking a longer 40 min trip tomorrow so that will be the real test but so far so good.

Completed my drive which is 50 mins each way, and it worked much better. I lost connection once each way but after I reset the receiver, it stayed connected with no problems. Previously, when I lost the connection, I would keep losing it. That cable definitely seems like a winner.

I have come to the conclusion in my case it has nothing to do with the cables. I use the same cable for the passed 6 months. Aa constantly freezes and then works great for a few hours.

Today I realized when it freezes if I just restart the phone it will work great for hours with no issues.

I think my s4 is just outdated
