Android Auto Error

I tried to add my wife's new Pixel 9 Pro phone to Android Auto (AA) in our Honda ZRV, up until last night AA had been faultless.
Last night I was confronted with an AA error message on my wife's phone: Android Auto error 8. I have googled the error and followed the answers that supposedly solved the error, but it hasn't fixed my error. Today I had a similar problem with my Pixel 7 Pro, it is frustrating to say the least.

Does anybody have any idea on how I can get rid of the error, so that I can connect my wife's P9P and my P7P to AA and then we can get Waze to operate instead of Google Maps.

Welcome to AC!
I never experienced that error but go to settings>apps>system apps>Android Auto select and upper right corner tap and uninstall the update to see if the previous version is working

Thanks for the Welcome mustang 7757.
I will give that a go and report back.
I have had Honda's since 2013 and this is the first time I have run into a problem with Android Auto.

P.S. I was a member here back in 2013 - 2017 but forgot my username & password, so it was easier to re-register. (y)

Back on topic.

After playing around the head unit on the car, I finally got it to update Android Auto, I think.
I then had an issue with getting my Carsifi to connect to the head unit.
I contacted Carsifi and received a list of steps to connect it to the head unit but still get the "red card".
The car is booked into the dealership (02/11/2025) to make sure I updated the Android Auto correctly.

I will then go back through the listed steps from Carsifi.

I was surprised the other day when I got a notification from the phone Android Auto app telling me my head unit needed an update, and even including a link/url to the manufacture's website for how to download and apply the update. I'm guessing Google now checks and informs about this when possible, depending also on manufacturer approaches for if self-service or dealer only update options exist. Kind of sucks if you now must pay a dealer to help resolve this.

My apologies for the late, late reply.
I ended up taking my Honda ZRV into the dealership and getting them to sort out the update. After that was sorted I was able to get my wife's P9P to connect to the head unit.

I also found out that Honda HR-V & ZRV can connect phones to Android Auto using Bluetooth. The only problem is, the phone will not charge via the charge plate at the front of the centre console, it still needs a data/charge cord to charge the phone via USB.

Here are the steps for Honda Owners wanting to try connecting to AA via Bluetooth.

Android phone to connect to the Head Unit using the following instructions:

1- Unpair and remove your phone from the car's Bluetooth

2- Delete Honda Bluetooth from your phone

>>> The above 2 steps are very important

3- make sure you start your car on accessories mode (engine off)

4- push "Home" + "Volume" + "back" buttons at the same time, hold them for around 10 seconds > a new window will pop up on
your screen

5- at the top, make sure you have selected "Android" on the top right side (as the default is the left side: for Apple)

6- click on "smartphone information"

You should be able to see 3 options, 1 of them is wireless android auto, select it.
Once done click return on the top right side until you completely exit this hidden menu.

7- push start, always without holding the brake pedal

8- turn off completely the car (one more time like step 7)

9- start again your car on accessories mode (without starting the engine). This will allow the system to re-initiate.

10- pair again your phone to your car's Bluetooth.

Glad you got it resolved and thanks for leaving the steps hopefully can help others.
