I purchased a JVC KWV830BT and had it installed in my 2011 Chevy Tahoe yesterday. I left the install place and everything was great until I plugged my BlackBerry KeyONE into it; it started on a constant loop of rebooting. I took it back to the installer and they updated the firmware on the JVC head unit. After that it stopped rebooting, but after 20 seconds (ish) of using Android Auto the system freezes. I then unplug my BlackBerry KeyONE from the JVC head unit and the unit functions as it should (sans Android Auto).
The best part is that it works fine with my wife's Samsung Galaxy S7. I should note that her S7 uses microUSB whereas my KeyONE uses USB type C.
I'm not sure if it's an issue with my KeyONE's lackluster processor being able to keep up? Or if it's an issue with the USB type C data cable I'm using. I've heard lots of issues about poor quality data cables not playing well with Android Auto, but the cable I have is high quality (or so I thought). Link here:

Just now I ordered a 6" data cable that was recommended on the Android Auto troubleshooting pages. It won't arrive for a week or so, and in the meantime I'd like to do any other troubleshooting I can. Link to the new cable here:

Any other suggestions? I would love to say it's an issue with the JVC unit (as I purchased extended warranty), but the fact that my wife's S7 works without issue tells me that that's not likely. I also read that I need to ensure I'm on 'Data and Charger' mode. I select this when I first plug it in, and then I'm presented with the following options:
-Charge this device
-Transfer files
-Transfer photos (PTP)
-Use device and MIDI
I'm not sure which option to choose, though it's kind of a moot point because as soon as Android Auto launches on my phone, it's locks the phone down so that I control it from the head unit (as I believe is intended). To be clear, Android Auto does start to work on my head unit, and then it crashes after a very short period of time; usually after 20 seconds or so of running the map. I used 'Okay google' to ask it to 'take me home for example. It worked for a few seconds and then freezes.
I would appreciate any help you guys could offer. One of the reasons I replaced my Alpine unit was because the map was outdated and a $90 USD purchase resulted in a failed attempt to actually load the map on the device. I eventually came to the conclusion that using google maps on my phone would make the most sense, hence an Android Auto head unit.
