AC Question

Hopefully, someone has a tip or trick to help with this issue. I have a Kenwood DDX9902S radio with Android Auto that worked fine with my Sony Xperia Z running Android 5 until that phone crapped out.

Then I got a new Samsung Galaxy J7 from T-Mobile running Android 6.0.1. When I connect the USB cable between the phone and the radio Android Auto launches fine and works with Maps, Music etc for a short time then the screen on the radio freezes as well as the buttons. The only to get the radio back is to unplug the phone or power cycle the radio.

The freezing happens anywhere from 5 seconds to 2 minutes with no rhyme or reason. I did get the firmware update for the DDX9902S but that has not solved the issue.

Anybody else experiencing this? Maybe somebody has a suggestion?

Thanks,

Paul

I'm having the same issue. It actually does not appear related to Android Auto, as the head unit freezes and/or gets stuck at the initial loading screen whether or not I have my phone (Galaxy S7) connected to the unit. It's simply that I use Android Auto more often than not.

I've factory reset, pulled the battery, and tried everything short of sending the unit in for repairs (the issue is random...sometimes every 15 minutes, sometimes not for a week of daily driving). Kenwood themselves have told me my only option is sending it in, as it has a two-year warranty.

A little late, but I moved this to the Android Auto forum for more specific traffic.
