AC Question

I just recently got my new CR-V. Android Auto is working great, except for voice commands. I have a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge on T-Mobile

I can say "OK, Google" and the prompt will know I'm saying it. It will even beep as if it understood what I am trying to say, but nothing happens. Just endless spinning dots.

This also occurs when attempting to read text messages through Android Auto. Constant spinning, but no voice.

I also found it odd that I can not turn on "media auto" inside the bluetooth settings when in the car.

I've tried everything I could think of, but to no avail.

Anyone else experience this or know a fix?

Did you disable Samsung's own S Voice and enable Google's voice engine instead? It seems like either there is no cell data connection or Samsung is getting in the way.

Seems like I'm getting closer. Disabling S Voice allows me to "OK Google, take me to work" and the navigation comes up immediately. I may need to find a list of commands to see what I can actually do with voice

The issue now only comes down to reading of messages. If I receive a text, i can press the play button to attempt to hear the voice message, but nothing comes out of the speakers in the car. Just an endless spinning circle that times out eventually and brings me back to radio / android auto screens. I find it odd that "Media Auto" is not able to be enabled within bluetooth of the HandsFreeLink. I suspect this has something to do with it, but there is no way to turn it on while I am in my car.

I can read text messages from within Honda itself using the normal handsfreelink way, but android auto is the only issue I seem to have

The commands are actually the same as Google Assistant. You can pretty much say anything. You can ask for weather, calendar events, restaurants, gas stations, call someone, text someone etc. It is a nature conversation, not limited to a list of static keywords.
Not sure about text reading. I wish Samsung could just give up it's stupid S Voice.

I agree completely. I'm going to try the call features. It just seems like the texting is where its hung up. Sending and reading texts do not work.

Try a different text app like Google's Android Message app. Also, I read that some version of AA has a bug that requires you to have Hangout app installed.

Finally got to the bottom of it. I found out that the dealership somehow lowered the guidance volume to 0, so the voice commands would come up but i couldnt hear them. Its all working now. Thank you for the help!
