I've had four different rental cars recently and had Android Auto issues with every single one of them.
In three cases the first time I used it I found it worked perfectly, however when I went to use it the next day it refused to start. On the 4th car (interestingly same model as the third car) I had the same issue from the start.
This has been a mix of Ford and Toyota vehicles. All connecting via hardwire USB.
When you plug it in the screen flashes, it looks like it tries to start Android Auto and then nothing - in Toyota vehicles it puts up an error (see attached).
I've tried clearing Android Auto cache, data, uninstalling and reinstalling updates for the built-in app, resetting the car, rebooting the phone, different cables (although as I say it has worked fine with this same cable too when initially connected), I switched off USB debugging, I've tried changing USB mode.
Anyone else experiencing this or have any suggestions? I'm running a Google Pixel 8, although I did also try a MOGO Pro 5 and had some similar issues so I do wonder if it's something flaky in AA itself, although would have expected more reports of issues then?
