Android Auto - Maps always in dark (night) mode

Car: 2017 Honda CRV
Phone: Samsung S20+ (Android 12) with all apps up to date

This started happening after the car's battery died and I replaced it

On the phone, Maps switch properly between light and dark (day/night); but on the infotainment screen, using Android Auto, it's dark no matter what. Time of day, amount of sunlight, headlights on/off - nothing seems to make a difference

On the phone, I've cleared the app cache and phone cache; on the car, I've looked thru the menus but don't know what setting would possibly need changing

Any suggestions on a resolution or what to check would be appreciated

Check in settings of AA in infotainment system or in AA on the device

I was concentrating on Maps, but did check AA on phone and changed to Day/Night from Auto to Day - I'll see if that changes anything

I had this problem a couple weeks ago, but an update to Maps fixed it. I'm running on version 11.38.1 (#1066602240)
