Android Auto -Note 8

Hello,
I'm a new user to Android Auto, need a car dock app to run directly through my phone. What I've noticed about AA is that it's set to high priority -do not disturb. Is there any way to change this? I want to be able to see or hear my text messages or any other messages from other apps. Also, is AA the best app for car mode apps? Thanks

Are you using Android Auto through your cars screen or just on your phone? I never saw the point of using it just on the phone but on the cars screen its excellent.

Ok, Yeah I never really found the car mode apps that useful. I always just opened a maps app if needed and whatever music service I wanted. All notifications should come through bluetooth or aux that way.

I've got an older car also and use android auto....my text messages show up with an option to play them....So I don't think do not disturb is the default action...

I just noticed that when I open AA it immediately shows in the notification bar that it's on Do Not Disturb mode, I usually turn it off but just think that i shouldn't have to do that each time I open AA, or maybe I should leave it on Do Not Disturb to see if I still will get my text messages
