After finally installing my new stereo in my truck and using Android Auto for real, not just goofing around with the radio set up on my work bench, it didn't take long to find a problem. When the phone's screen dims after a bit of inactivity (before it locks), Android Auto on the radio screen no longer responds to taps. It will still respond to swipes and dragging, but that's it. Everything still works, you just can't tap anything until you wake up your screen. At first I thought it was the screen locking, but today I turned on the "screen never locks while charging" option in developer settings, and it still does it. The only way to prevent it is to just lock the screen manually after plugging in the phone. My V50 didn't have this problem that I know of, and I tested today with my son's Galaxy S20 Ultra, and it didn't have the problem either. I suppose I'll report this to both Google and OnePlus, and hope it gets addressed. Thankfully there is a workaround, so it's not as bad as it could be.
