Android auto suddenly not working

[Android Central Question]

Galaxy S8, version 7 (whatever that one is).

Chrysler Pacifica 2018, brand new.

Android auto was working PERFECTLY and all of a sudden it's saying "device not compatible". I swear I've tried everything to get it working again and I'm really upset because I'm currently driving from Texas to Virginia and it would be GREAT to have active GPS on my screen vs my phone.

I've uninstalled/reinstalled
Done debugging
Checked the usb transfer type
Cleared data
Cleared cache
Cleared cache partition
Forgotten the phone
Forgotten the car
Changed usb cables 3x
Turned off/on phone

The AA is a beta quality product. It keeps locking up my phone. I tried everything - from getting rid of secondary apps, reload AA, SW reset my phone, HW reset my phone-- nothing helps. I still works intermittently. I would depend on AA to find my way. I will keep my Garmin in my glove compartment.
