Android auto Waze not going to night mode

As title says neither my wife or I are able to get android auto to go into night mode with Waze. Even tried setting it to night mode in Waze app and still stuck in daylight mode. Assuming it is an android pie issue? Works perfectly with our old phones btw so know it's not app or car.

May be related, I noticed on Pie for Note 9 and new S10. Night mode on Android Auto reflects setting on phone. In other words if I am in night mode on S10/Note 9 the Android auto in car is also always in night mode. I would assume opposite is true. Try putting phone in night mode and see if that changes it.

So as usual, Occam's Razor proved correct. The simplest solution is often the correct one. I rebooted the phone and is working fine now. I forgot I did the system update as well as all the app updates all in the last few days. Once I rebooted it is now in night mode all the time (switched the int7ernal switch to night mode in Waze). All is good! Thank you!

I am having the same issue. I had a S8which I traded for S10. Night mode does not work anymore. I have updated and restarted the phone many times. Help?

I have the same problem with my S10, and although I still have my S8 that worked fine for car controlled day/night mode, I don't really remember if I have used it after upgrading to Android 9, but back to the point, switching the S10 to night mode (dark mode) switches android auto to night mode, otherwise it stays in day mode. Pretty annoying

The reason is in Android's latest updates. Just make night mode settings in your phone settings.

And you can do it at night mode or on a predefined schedule.
From sunset to sunrise or hours you set.

That may be a solution, but night mode is only usable when you don't have a theme applied on your phone.

There has to be a workaround for this. Waze should just adjust as it did in previous android (Samsung) software versions.
