Android box (H96 Max X2 - Android 9.0) not turning on with air remote

[Android Central Question]

I am having issues turning my android box back on after turning off with my remote. I turned on the HDMI CEC settings to see if it actually takes the universal remote signal, but it does not help if the box is powered off. Seems like the problem is that it turns off after I put it to sleep with remote, and needs either a power cut or a physical switch to turn it back on (which these cheap knock-offs don't have). Is there a way to prevent it from shutting off after a while and just keep it at SLEEP MODE constantly.
