Android email app will not show attached files paperclip

The Android version on my Google Galaxy Nexus shows as 4.4.4. The email app (not Gmail) with IMAP settings from my Yahoo account will not show attached files of any type in the app's inbox. The paperclip is missing, so there's no way to tell it has an attachment or to download the attachment. If I log into my Yahoo email account using the browser then clearly there is no problem seeing attached files in the Yahoo inbox. Is there a problem with the Android email app in v4.4.4 and is there a fix? Thanks for any help.

Well, for a variety of reasons I had to perform a factory reset and then reinstall a couple of times. For reasons I cannot even guess at the problem solved itself and the android email app now shows paper clips like it is supposed to.
