Android Keyboard Shortcut Frustrations

I switched from the iPhone to S3 a few months back. One thing I really liked about the iPhone was being able to set up custom keyboard shortcuts such as when I entered OMW it would put "On My Way" sure a lot of savvy texters know what OMW means but when you are texting parents and people that aren't "with current times" it is helpful.

I did have these shortcuts set up on my S3 that was until I updated to Jellybean 4.1.2 this morning. Now they are all gone and there is no option to redo them. I tried dl several keyboards from google play, Go Keyboard, Siine, Perfect Keyboard, Swiftkey. I could not find this option on any of those keyboards.

Does anyone know of a free keyboard that will allow me to do this since the option has now been taken away on the standard keyboard?

Use SwiftKey 3 keyboard program. It learns as you type and short cuts like those will come up on the suggestion box.

Hi. I'm facing the same problem with keyboard shortcuts, having switched from the iPhone.
Any solutions?
Thanks!

Thanks for the advice for them. A question though: is that feature something that eventually comes up after the program learns your habits, or is it a paid feature?

I do believe it's in either version but trust me. Get the paid version and you'll be forever happy.

Not sure if you guys switched back to ios in the time since you posted this but there is a solution (and I think it was available at the time of your posts).

Install Google Keyboard (it's the official Google upgrade for the stock android keyboard)
https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...ogle.android.inputmethod.latin&token=hJyz-uRu

Then go into it's settings:
Homescreen > Settings > Keyboard & Input > Google Keyboard (make sure it's enabled) > Personal dictionary.

here you can add words for certain languages or global words. The second line is for a shortcut (for example: I could say "dont" is a shortcut for "don't" :)
