Pretty sure they said lollipop would be the last major update for the S4.

The T-Mobile S4 stopped at 4.4.4. The phone was released with Jellybean. So 5.0 would make it two updates which is as much as you can expect. My S4 still runs well on KitKat. The "No SIM Detected" error finally forced me to change phones.

I'm on EE which is T-Mobile & Orange merged apparently & I'm glad my phone got the 5.0.1 lollipop update as I had a bug with kitkat where my phone would get really hot & one of my apps would drain my battery really fast. Within an hour the battery would be at 0%. So far so good with lollipop.

Well, if Lollipop is the last compatible iteration of Android on the S4, so be it!
