Android Central Question

Folks,

First time poster here. Were looking to introduce a BYOD program for Android at my job. Currently, we are exclusively an iOS shop for both corp and personally owned devices. The challenge were facing is around security compliance across various carriers, manufacturers, OS versions, and monthly security updates.

My question is this, if an October 2018 security update is provided to two different Android devices, one on 8.x and one on 9.x are both said to be covered from all known vulnerabilities patched with those updates? Or would there potentially be a delta between what is patched between different OS versions (i.e. Oreo vs Pie)?

Welcome to Android Central! I believe you're correct. One thing to keep in mind as well is that not all devices will have the same flaw, so just because a device didn't receive a security patch that particular month doesn't mean that it is vulnerable to that flaw -- this is something Jerry has explained on the podcast a few times.
