I've been a lurker here for a long time, but never posted. It took me a year to make the switch from iOS to Android, lol...

I finally made the jump, and I went with the HOX. I knew about the s3, but my parents both have a Samsung (one has a captivate, one has an infuse) and they hate them. So do I really, but it's more of an aesthetic thing. I love the HOX. The non-removable battery and no expandable storage things aren't an issue for me. I've had an iPhone since 2008. Dropbox is working well for me and I have a car charger, so no biggie.

I like Sense well enough, and the battery life on this thing is fanfreakingtastic. I only have my iPhone use to compare it to, but here are some screenshots from yesterday...I think I may have had about 10 minutes of voice calls (not even enough to register), but I had the screen on for a LONG time. I spent the majority of the day running a stuck pixel video over and over and over (yep, I'm *that* anal) and searching the web for a stuck pixel fix. Nothing's worked so far, but one pixel isn't a returnable issue I'm told.

I can't remember the last time I got almost 8 hours of screen time on my iPhone, if I ever did. So, I'm happy. :)

Since I'm still within my 30 days, for another week at least, part of my brain is tormenting me with "what if" in regards to the s3. There's a lot of love going on for that device...if it actually makes its way to a store this week, I may go hold it and see what I think. But to be honest, it would have to have a major reason (not battery, storage or S-voice related) to make me jump ship I think.

The s3 doesn't have a major compelling reason over the HOX, except for what volume (number of them in circulation) might get you. Since all the S3 phones share mostly the same code, and the same size/shape, there will be an advantage with accessories and hacking I think. The actual device seems like a push when compared to the HOX.

I am normally a samsung fan, but I went with the HOX just this last weekend, trading in the VZ Gnex. Every phone seems to have its quirks, but I am a little tired of Samsung quirks. I was not going to chance the S3 for more of them.

Like you, I have been an iPhone user from the beginning and find the OS boring, especially since I'm on iOS 4.0 running on my iP3G which is about as fast as a drunk turtle. And it's clear the best possible direction to go is Android and more specifically a recent device. With the soon to be released Jelly Bean, Google is positioning itself to the leader rather than the follower. This coupled with the open architecture and tons of developers doing cool things we can install and take advantage of just makes Android the best choice.. or so it appears.

So the question is really the device. I own several Samsung products and they have been flawless.and with the tons of developers doing cool things with ROMs etc for the GS3, it makes it attractive. I think the HOX has a nice screen and feels good, but I serious reservations due to how Sense works multitasking and a wide array of issues that seem to still be happening. There also seems to be vast manufacturing inconsistencies on the HOX though I imagine this can happen with any device, the GS3 included. So far though everyone that's rec'd their ATT GS3 seems to be relatively problem free. Time will tell. And then there's the $100 Sony Xperia Ion running GB too.. I plan to go play with the GS3 soon and compare it closely to the Sony and HOX. Can't wait to have all the fun learning Andriod since there's SO much to learn!

I was on WiFi and had very few voice calls. If I make a lot of calls, or I have to use my data instead of WiFi, the battery drains faster. But still, not bad... :)
