Android Nougat on rooted Phones

Just like in 6.0.1, you will have to most likely wait for a modified boot image to be made available that disables the same stuff in 7 that it disabled in 6.0. Once you have that, it all depends on how you are upgrading. With an OTA, it is a little bit more tricky since you have to reflash the stock system, boot and recovery images before taking the OTA (either automatically or sideloading it). Then once you have the OTA loaded, you will have to then load the modified boot image, your custom recovery and then go into the recovery and re-root the phone. And that is if you stayed encrypted. If you are unencrypted, it could get messy.

To a seasoned flasher, it's pretty straightforward work, but if you aren't comfortable with things, it can go south really fast...

Flashfire has its limitations.... I would have to go in and check, but if there are bootloader or radio updates, those have to be done in fastboot I believe... Granted, I don't use FlashFire, so I am not the best resource.

Can't the FlashFire's modem firmware update update radios too? And I guess nougat doesn't need any new bootloader settings, does it?

I'll have to look at the full factory image to verify the versions.

But Flashfire might... I haven't had a lot of experience with it though. I'm used to doing it old school with fastboot, adb and TWRP operations.

Actually I've enrolled to google beta programm, downloaded OTA and flashed it with FlashFire. I'm using it for about 6 hours now and haven't met any problems besides updating TWRP. FlashFire rules!!

Excellent.... glad it worked. Yeah, I've looked at Flashfire a few times, but its one of those things where I've become so accustomed to dealing with the low level tools that I go straight to those first.
