Android OS data consumption

My OS seams to have an absurd usage. I did a search for a few hours and can't find a definite reason or solution. One solution was to turn of data backup, which I thought might be a viable soulution. However, looking at the usage rate, after April 29/30 the usage has been zero. I don't know what changed, cuz I'm a creature of habit during the work week with my usage.

I turned my backup off anyway, but I'd really like to figure out the true cause to this and possibly a solution as 1gb is atrocious!

Phone is a stock S7 edge (SM-G935V) running 6.0.1 on verizon

Maybe that was a system update?.. Settings=>system updates, check the update history and see if one cooresponds to april.

Also log into My Verizon, and check your data log for one big download that corresponds to that time frame.

Didnt think of that lol. Last update was Mar30. The verizon "data log" was very vague. Not sure how to get a more detailed log.
