today at work, my battery started at 100% at 8am and drained to 30% by 4pm with minimal usage. GPS, Wifi, instant messaging were all off. Screen is turned low, and auto is checked. Location services are all unchecked. Power Saving Mode is turned on.

I go to settings and see that 96% of the culprit is "Android OS". what is this, and what else can i check to see what is causing this?

thanks

Android OS encompasses many of the core functions of the operating system, so it can be difficult to say which process was specifically causing your drain. You could try installing GSam Battery Monitor or something similar to get a more detailed breakdown.

thank you---i will try that...i do find "android OS" extremely vague and annoying...

Go to settings/location services/then unclick use wireless networks. (instant fix)

yes, those were already unchecked...

I wouldn't advise it. Try rebooting first. Then try a cache partition wipe as mentioned above, if the reboot doesn't help.
