Android OS using a ton of battery

I've been running into some battery drain issues with my Razr Maxx recently. The phone was at about 95% last night, and this morning it's at only 55% about 7 hours later with no usage. The phone was sitting idle all night, with smart actions to disable data/sync.

I checked Badass Battery Monitor, and there was very little CPU usage and nothing was waking the device or keeping it active.

The one thing that did stand out was that Android OS had used about 80% of the battery overnight and that tons of sensor time was being used, according to the battery monitor. During the 7 hours, Android System had used over 5 hours of sensor time. It shows that about 90% of this was the accelerometer. A lot of my background apps, such as Beautiful Widgets or Sportscenter, had also used about 1.5 hours of sensor time (all accelerometer).

Any ideas what could be causing the accelerometer to be used so much? Could this be causing the battery drain?

I'm not a fan of Battery Monitor apps... mainly because they will use up your battery... they have to because they have to stay on to monitor EVERYTHING that is going on with your device. Did you try to uninstall that app???

Not to hijack the thread or anything but I have a similar problem with the battery drain. Overnight it dropped about 30~40% while basically doing nothing (as far as I could tell. I only left it unplugged to see how much my battery would drain in idle). I am using Watchdog Lite and have it set to "collect" info every 2 minutes. The biggest CPU hog was Android System but even that was only at 3.3.%

I had uninstalled JD because so many people now say that battery savers and task killers do more harm than good. I only have the phonne's power saver mode running. I also have any apps that collect data(email, weather etc.) set at intervals and not using push. I do not use FB or Twitter, I have about 5 widgets (application moniter,2 clocks, date, and flashlight) and a total of about 35~40 apps. I have my screen brightness set to about 20 and backlight timeout set to 30 sec. I have wifi, GPS, bluetooth, and auto-sync turned off.

I'm kind of running out of ideas and think I may have to start uninstalling/reinstalling. Any ideas on what may be a culprit I'm overlooking?

Thanks in advance.

I use the Badass battery monitor. It says my kernel uses 30.8% of my battery. Is that normal? And if not, how do I lower the usage? Does the battery monitor hurt more than help?
