Having a bit of an issue with Android Pay after the marshmallow update.
I've used it at Best Buy and my local grocery stores after the upgrade but tap and pay isn't working the way it is supposed to. I tap and it kind of, sort of tries to pay but then prompts me for my fingerprint or password before needing me to tap a second time. Which it shouldn't be doing After all, the official Android Pay instructions are literally what I had been doing up until now:
"You don't have to open the Android Pay app to make a purchase with your NFC phone; just follow these steps:
1. Wake up and unlock your phone.
2. Hold the back of your phone against the contactless payment terminal.
3. If prompted, choose Credit regardless of your type of card."
But ever since marshmallow came along I've been in this unlock, tap, enter pw/fingerprint again, tap a second time, pay.
Having thought that maybe there was a problem with the Android Pay app, I erased the data/cache for it and set it up again. No change. So I went to the most drastic step ever after that and did a full system reset and set up phone from scratch. And it is still doing this. :/
I'm just baffled as to why Android Pay is doing this. Tap and pay was so painless under 5.1.1 and I can't figure out why it is needing all these extra verification steps under 6.0.1 while I haven't heard of anyone else having to jump through similar hoops. So does anyone have any thoughts on what is going on here? Oh, and I should mention this is a stock phone, never rooted or anything.
