I updated my S9+ this morning to android pie and noticed the app labels for the apps docked at the bottom of the home screen no longer show.. the labels are there because when I move the app to the home screen (undocked) you can see the label but as soon as I dock it you no longer see the label..it’s like something at the bottom is covering it up, I already switched to the “swipe” for the navigation bar so that’s not it..anyone know how to remedy this by chance?

Welcome to Android Central! I don't have that phone, but I suspect it's part of the new One UI. Pie on other phones (like the Pixel) don't have text labels for icons in the Favorites Tray, so Samsung is presumably following suit.

Coming to this a bit late, but for the benefit of any future views....

The dock 'text labels' are a toggle on/off feature in the Home screen settings.

- long press blank area of Home screen to get to edit...
- select Settings at bottom of screen...
-scroll to 'icons'...
- toggle 'show names in dock' to on

"Show folder and app names in the dock area at the bottom of the home screen"

Hope this helps for any future searches for this issue.

Depends on the phone model. Note 9 apparently doesn't have that feature. Doubtful the S9 has it then.

I also upgraded my S9+ to Pie and the text is removed from my favorites tray icons. When I long press blank area of Home screen, it brings up Home Screen settings, but I don't see any way to add the text back on the icons.
