I keep getting that this has stopped about for or 5 times a day and my uploads to picassa fails so I guess these are connected.

is this a known issue? any way i can fix it other then a factory reset?

have done battery pull restarts and sim pull.

Settings> apps> all.. Find Media Storage, click that, clear data.
Let me know if that solves.

happens all the time on my Xoom. Stock. But on my Gnex I'm running Codename 1.5 and it has not happened once.

This clears it temporarily. I've read that it's due to some corrupt file, usually on an SD card. Have not investigated this in detail, but it makes sense.

well i did the data clear in media storage. it cleared all the stock ringtones!
oops so I had to do a FR and everything is back to normal. a little better actually. the market app update finally worked 100% and no stops so far.

just an update, the issue came back literally a week later. Im just tired of doing factory resets on my phone.

Mine does this twice at every startup, and sporadically after. I've done factory resets and also gotten rid of all media files and replaced them with fresh copies. My guess is that if media files are being corrupted once in a while, it's the phone that is doing it.
