Android Central Question

My mobile recently got an update. Now its fully drained battery. I try to charge but the charging screen does not appear. I used a wireless charger and battery charge is there. But the mobile phone shows 0% when plugged in to electricity USB cable and and it does not open the phone because 0%. And my on/off button is broken. How to rectify it? I need my mobile back.

What phone do you have?

What was the update?

At 0% most devices will not power on because even though it is plugged into power the phone runs off of the battery and the power being supplied is only meant to charge the battery, not run the phone.

You say it charges on a wireless charger but not when plugged in, correct? Have you tried a different or new cable? Have you inspected your cable for damage? Have you inspected the charging port for damage or debris inside? Not knowing what device you have or what it's connection type is I am assuming USB-C since the device has wireless charging. USB-C is a larger opening and it is very easy for lint and other foreign objects to get in there unnoticed.

Have you tried allowing it to charge wirelessly until there is a percentage?

Charge it for a minimum of 4 hours before even looking at it. The battery has to precharge before it can be charged. (Some phones do precharging, some don't.)

If the power button is bad, you'll just have to get it replaced - there's no other way of turning the phone on. (Unless you understand how the switch works, and can use an orange stick or a wooden or plastic chopstick to turn it on.)

And never allow the battery to drop below 40% from now on. If it gets down to 42% or 41% and you can't charge it, TURN IT OFF, or you'll be replacing more than one battery a year. (My Note 3 is still using its 7 year old battery.)
