Android Central Question

Trying to shake hack that got into my Google & took all saved passwords, gmail addy's, etc. Found answer, but lost tab.. Step 1: Shut off phone. Step 2: Tried to get to reboot menu pressing volume down and power together. It worked! Then I went to ADB, but got message I didn't understand. Didn't know next step, so hit factory data Reset (which didn't get rid of generic Android 10 system on this phone). Anyone able to give me step by step instructions "How To?"

What did you think was going to happen? I don't think any Android phones can be taken to "bare metal" (no OS) that easily.

A word of caution - A Google account that has just had its password reset can't be used to log in to a device for 24 hours or so, and if you're planning to use a new account you need to be sure to have removed your old account from the phone properly or the phone will be expecting your old (hacked?) account for sign in when you go to set it back up.

If your phone has been reset, what further direction do you need?

1. Please create an account so you can post to this thread.

2. We have to know the make and model of the phone to help you go any further than you have. You have to get into Download mode for Samsungs, or the bootloader for most other phones (and use a Mediatek program for phones with Mediatek SoCs). Since this is a Mediatek phone, see https://www.mobilereset99.com/flash-file-t-mobile-revvl-plus/ for flashing a ROM. (It's not difficult - it doesn't even require adb.)

What you've done so far are steps to reflash the ROM - which won't restore contacts or addresses. (The contacts should still be at Google Contacts (if they're not, see https://support.google.com/contacts/answer/7280886?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform=Desktop&authuser=0) and the Gmail addresses should still be at Gmail (if they're not, contact Google and see if they can restore a "before the hack" backup. It will remove any spyware or malware.
