I hunted and hunted for a forum for just general android chats but couldn't find one. Please excuse me if this is the wrong place.

Hi all! I've been pondering the idea of moving to a tablet when it comes time to replace my laptop. That's got me to thinking about what I would need to see in a tablet to make it a viable option. I'll list the features I'd like to see and I'm curious what you'd add to the list.

  1. Printing - I have printer connected to my network via WiFi. The android can connect via WiFi. So why shouldn't I be able to print? I want to be able to open just about any app and print. Google Docs, QuickOffice docs/spreadsheets/PDFs, email etc--they all should be able to print.
  2. Some sort of keyboard/mouse system - When using it for general computing (such as writing a letter, some kind of technical write-up etc) or coding (HTML/PHP, VB etc) that involves a lot of typing, I need a real keyboard. A mouse would be helpful in cases where an EXACT pinpoint location is needed--finger press isn't always sufficient.

I'm envisioning some kind of dock that the tablet could snap into--it would give it more of a laptop feel. A mouse pointer would appear ONLY when docked to this device and there would be a touchpad on the keyboard. I could close it all up like a laptop and take it on the road OR take just the tablet device itself.

Eh. I've never really been too impressed with the netbooks--they just don't seek to have the power that I'll need and the screens aren't as good. But there've been MANY times I've been SERIOUSLY TEMPTED to buy one of the new tablets figuring that I'd use it for the normal web surfing and such and only revert to the laptop when I needed a KB/Mouse. But I'm talking about really replacing the laptop.

If I could find THIS device with the same specs as the newer devices and can be detached from the KB, I'd be tempted.
