I have bought several Android TV boxes (Greva, X88 Pro 13) and all of them when you go to security and restrictions show the restricted profile for 1 second and then it disappears and i bought these to use with restricted profiles.

How do you fix the restricted profile setting on these boxes?

Welcome to Android Central forums. I don't use Android TV so I'm a bit unfamiliar but maybe I can help anyway.

I'm not sure I fully understand your issue. You say "all of the other boxes show the restricted profiles for a second and they disappear", so are you buying these boxes to use these profiles and so far all of the ones you've tried will not display this profile, or are you saying that all of them performed as expected, showing and then hiding, this profile except this last one?

What is a restricted profile? Is this something you created and you restricted or is it something you're trying to access but because they disappear you are not able to do the thing you want to do?

How is the profile restricted? Password access required, behind a paywall, belongs to another family member or friend? What would be your ideal way to access these profiles?

I Googled what I believe is your issue, perhaps figured out what a restricted profile is, and got the following response.

If an Android TV restricted profile isn't displaying, it could be due to several reasons. First, ensure the profile has been properly set up and that the correct PIN has been entered to access it. If you're unable to access the profile after entering the PIN, it might be due to a bug or incorrect settings. Try deleting the profile and creating it again, or restarting the TV. If the issue persists, you may need to contact the manufacturer for further assistance. [1, 1, 2, 2, 3, 3, 4, 4, 5]
Here's a more detailed breakdown of potential solutions:
1. Verify Profile Setup and PIN:

  • Check Profile Settings: Ensure the restricted profile was created and configured correctly, including any restrictions on apps or content. [1, 1, 2, 2, 3, 3]
  • Enter Correct PIN: Make sure you're entering the correct PIN to access the restricted profile. If you've forgotten the PIN, a factory reset might be necessary. [1, 1, 6, 6]
  • Restart the TV: A simple restart can sometimes resolve temporary glitches. [4, 4, 7, 8]
2. Troubleshooting:
  • Delete and Recreate the Profile: If the profile is malfunctioning, try deleting it and creating it again. [3, 4]
  • Check for Software Updates: Ensure your Android TV is running the latest software version. Updates can sometimes fix bugs related to restricted profiles. [9, 9]
  • Contact Manufacturer: If none of the above steps work, contact the Android TV manufacturer for support. They may have specific troubleshooting steps or information for your model. [1, 1, 9, 9]
3. Other Potential Issues:
  • Bugs or Glitches: Restricted profiles can sometimes be affected by bugs, especially after software updates or resets. [4, 4, 9]
  • Factory Reset: In extreme cases, a factory reset might be necessary to resolve the issue, but this will erase all data on the TV. [6, 6]

I am missing the restricted profiles options under security and restrictions menu under settings .

X88 box is made by Shenzhen Zbigstar Technology Co., Ltd. which I only seem to find on AliExpress. They do not appear to have an FAQ page or forum group. Everything I am finding is about 2 years old and most question replies say the poster posted the question in the wrong site, meaning people looking for answers started posted anywhere to find them. Your best bet would be to reach out to the MFGr if you can find a number for them, maybe in your manual, as I was not able to find one.

I'm finding even less on the Greva TV box. Although I did see your question over at XDA, a great resource I might add, they might be able to help you root/jailbreak the device to access these features though.

Aside from advising you to find a name brand or more popular device I'm afraid there is not more advice I can offer.

You didn't answer my questions though, did this ever work on these devices? How did you create these profiles to begin with?

If it never worked on these devices, that could be an indicator that it will not work on them. Which would turn you back to the device that was used to create them. Any chance of getting another one of those units and returning these? If it did work in the past, ensure the box is updated correctly, and also try a second or third attempt at resetting the device. Sometimes glitches or bugs can occur even when factory resetting a device which can be solved by performing the reset multiple times. Seems counter intuitive but I've experienced this myself.
