Android wear connected via bluetooth cannot answer calls on phone

I have a Fossil watch with Android Wear 2.0 and Android 7.1.1 on my Nokia 8.

When try to answer the phone and the watch is connected, I cannot. It seems I can only answer calls using the phone.

Is this normal behavior? Any way to disable?

I have the Fossil also with a Note 8... I had the same problem... what I found out was if you go to the Bluetooth page on your phone find your watch on connected devices tap the gear icon to the right and enable "call audio" hope that helps.
