Android won't update on my Galaxy Tab 10.1 (SCH-I905)

I have a Galaxy Tab 10.1 that I guess I have never updated the Android version. It is currently 3.2 and I NEED to update it to the current version for the primary software I use on this tablet. But when I go to "Software Update" and click on "Check for Update" there is a pop-up that says "Checking for Updates" and that's as far as it gets. Eventually it just times out and that's it. No update. No offer to update. It just stops. Any thoughts??

If that's the P7510, it won't update past 4 (they dodn't write updates for it after that). Since that's a VERY old version, it may not be available online any more. If Smart Switch can't find an update, 4.04 is available at Firmware for Samsung GT-P7510 - SamMobile See [Samsung] How to flash Stock ROM via ODIN for directions on flashing it. (It may look a bit scary, but by the 5th time you flash a Samsung you'll do it during TV prime time, so you don't die of boredom - it can take 10 minutes for the first boot after the flash is done.)

Back up everything (see Backing up an Android Device) because flashing a ROM gives you an out-of-the-box device. All your apps, date, etc., are gone.

You'll need to do the following:
  1. Set your clock if not set
  2. Add a "Samsung Account" under Accounts and Sync
  3. Update will then work

However, the latest version available is only 4.0.4.

I did a restore to factory setting and my galaxy tab 4 still keeps booting up searching for update. Just keeps searching and never goes anywhere. What can I do?
