AndroidCentral, etc. vs Google+ communities

I have been very involved in the Google Plus movement. Along with that I have also been a very active forum member with CrackBerry.com, AndroidCentral and imore.com. My question is after saying all this I've noticed Google communities kind of mimics the forum community. Do you think Google Plus communities will eventually become a threat the the forum arena. Anyone can answer I would love to hear input on this subject.

I am leery of Google communities since Google has all kinds of info on me - my name, address, credit card, emails, my location, etc. I prefer to be able to speak my mind in a forum like this without having it tied to every piece of information that Google has on me. It just creeps me out how much data they already have amassed about me. Not giving them any more.
