I have been using an Anker 3.0 charger and it was working fine. Now it now longer indicates fast charging. When I test it with a charging app it seems to be charging as fast as the factory charger but I don't know if the app are accurate. I think it was Ok after the last Verizon update but not sure.

Mike, I'd prob contact Anker Support for this just to verify that your charge will work with the LG Phone, assuming this is what you're referring as what you want to charge.

Mike, what I'm getting at is even the booklet that comes with your smarty says us only the charging device which came with your phone.. and I have seen a difference while using other charging methods.. going from the main charger to simply plugging into the computer UBS which actually charges at a slow rate then if I use the charger.. So sure it can or could work with your phone.. but prob is not recommended by the phones manufacture..

The charger worked.... It stopped working so something is wrong. All electronic products write that in product manuals to sell their products and to minimize you using cheap products which could cause damage.... That is not the case here.

Mike, We've yet to determine if it's the charger of the smart phone.. But based on your explanations, it would seem the charger is at fault, therefore I would suggest and have already suggested that you contact Anker Support

After i update from c to d, i lost fast charging. I use vce cable with trinsmart 3.0 charger
I just change vce cable with original stock cable and i get fast charging. Problem is 3rd party cable, not in charger

I can't try that, charger output is USB C. Are there any known cables that would work.

I updated around July 26th on Verizon but could swear it was still working. The weird part is that it seems to charge fast though I've never timed it.

Just swap in a fresh battery and charge your spare. ;) :P

Seriously though, try another cable if you have one (or get one if you don't) and then contact Anker. Or contact Anker first if you don't want to spend money. Worst case, they send you a new charger and cable and the problem is still there. Best case is it works like you would expect.

It could have been the update. This happened to me on my Note 4 that I had with AT&T. They pushed out a firmware updated and all of a sudden adaptive fast charging stopped working. It to FOREVER for the phone to charge. They took 4 months to push out another update and it fixed the issue.

I contacted them....I got two responses. One for a refund based on a review I left on Amazon and they said its not compatible. The other from their support departments suggesting I try different cable and offered a replacement. I don't have another Double ended USB C cable to try.

Was that with the factory charger or aftermarket

I'm thinking of getting a C to A adaptor and trying my LG cable

Sorry, I haven't researched this much so you may need to catch me up.

Are you saying that a cable that is certified for USB-C might not work properly with your device?

If so that worries me since my next device will probably have a similar arrangement (charging using QC or some other proprietary method instead of using Power Delivery).

This whole QC thing is confusing. Certain phones seem to work with certain charges....some say its the cable. It appears that software updates can affect fast charging ability. I wish there was a common standard because I have seen a lot of people buy chargers that didn't work for them. On the G5 for example some models worked on TMobile but not Verizon. I find one that works on Verizon and then its stops working....possibly after an update.

Well, there is a standard, but OEM's seem to be choosing to not use it. That's fine, it's their choice. They still have a responsibility to the consumers that use their products though.

They seem to be crossing a line now in that they are changing that functionality after the product has already been released. This is going to cause a lot of confusion. People spend money on charging accessories that may or may not work for the life of the product.

I'm currently undecided between the Note 7 and V20, but if this is how LG is going to behave I'm inclined to avoid them (also hoping that Samsung doesn't do the same thing). It could be a carrier thing, but that seems like a very odd thing for a carrier to want to mess with.
