Along with the site redesign I'd like to introduce several new features. Before I describe each - you will notice that I use the word postbit several times. A postbit is the section where your avatar is in each post. If you haven't noticed, it's been cleaned up and reformatted to look much more organized. This Admin has OCD something terrible. That said:

Avatars: Maximum avatar dimensions have been increased to 135 x 90. File size limitation is still 20kb. If you have not selected an avatar the default is "Lloyd - the AC mascot" You can edit your Avatar in the edit your details page.

GitHub icon in postbit for Android Developers:

Git is an extremely fast, efficient, distributed version control system ideal for the collaborative development of software. GitHub is the best way to collaborate with others. Fork, send pull requests and manage all your public and private git repositories. If you are a Github member - and would like to be identified as one in your postbit - edit the Github field in your details page.

Next Device: Got your eye on a new device or want to share with others your next phone? You can share this information in your postbit. To configure this option go to the edit your details page.

Quickly find all your posts/threads: Click the Search pull-down in the navbar to display a list of all threads you've started and posts you've made in a thread.

Private message list: Now has a 2 line preview for each message.

Private message menu: in your User Control Panel is now next to your PM's instead of half way down the list.

YouTube videos: Embedded YouTube videos allowed in posts (forum rules apply).

Activity/Ranks/User Titles: We are no longer classifying/labeling user titles based on post count. I received many complaints about this system. A member with 1,000 posts could have a title of Android Genius. This has been replaced with an Activity and Ranking system.

Activity meter: Measures the last 7-days of activity in the forums based on post count. If you post at least 42 times - you will have a full activity meter. The daily limit to move the bar is currently set to 6. Meaning you will not end up with a full bar by posting 42 times in one day. A visit to the site at least once per day will also count as one post. Daily activity goals can be found on your profile page under the statistics tab. There will be other indicators in the future that will account for more variables.

Ranks: The first time you get a full activity meter - your rank will be changed from Junior member to member. After 1-year you will be ranked as a Senior Member.

Longevity: Measures how long you've been a member relative to the forums launch date. This information is in the statistics tab of the member profile page.

Stats for the above: Can be found in the community pull-down in the Navbar.

Photobucket uploader: It allows you to download and upload images from/to your photo album. When you click on a picture - just copy and paste the code into the message editor and post. I personally love this feature. It makes posting pictures much easier.

Image Resizing: Speaking of pictures - you will notice that larger images are now automatically scaled to fit the message area. You can click the bar above the picture to see the full size version. This was another feature I had been asked to implement by many members trying to view the forums on smaller screens.

Postbit YouTube icon: in your postbit by filling out the field in the edit your details page.

Procedures: Click that little box icon in the message editor, if you want to wrap a box around some text.

[BOX="This is a procedure"]Step 1: Login to the forums.
Step 2: Introduce yourself in the introductions forums.
Step 3: Enter a contest.
Step 4: Participate in the discussions.
Step 5: Hack it, tweak it, love it.

What happened to the location info?
Kinda liked to know where ppl are from if they choose to show it.

Love it. Cant wait to get off of work where we are having computer issues to check it all out.

How about moving the Activity Bar to the left, either under user name or after all the stats there?

Adding location back makes the right hand side look too long and now unbalanced.

You just reminded me of why it was removed.

looks like double spacing ... maybe make it single spaced?

It is what it is for now. Not going to start making changes on the fly based on differing opinions. I'll revisit some of this in a week or so.

You just reminded me of why it (location) was removed.

Location is more valuable than Rank, IMHO. I see people with over 1,000 posts who have the same rank as I do at -600 posts. So, what's the point of rank?

I think it's better to see location rather than a useless rank.

Just my 2 pennies worth.

Rank is not connected to post count. It's based on meeting minimum activity thresholds and length of membership. More details here.

Added the location back.

How does the member status, I.E.: junior member, member..., work now?

NVM saw your last post Cory

Does the "Senior Member" title go into effect a year from now or a year after you first joined AC ?

It's supposed to calculate it based on conditions 1 and 2 being met. It was just installed recently so it may take a few days for your title to be changed.

Junior member has been changed to member until the counters have had some time to kick in.

The idea of this was to stop associating user titles based on post count.

It is being replaced by a combination of meeting minimum activity thresholds combined with length of membership. If you want to know someones post count it's in the upper right corner of the screen.

Is changing the comment system on the main site going to be part of the change up? The old one is not very good at all...
