Annoyance #1

I just got my SGS2 and am loving it with the exception of the following: I have it connected to my exchange email. Whenever I get an email, the screen turns on, shows the lockscreen, and then turns off about a second later. Anyway to turn that off? It is quite annoying when you are in a movie theater and the screen goes on and off constantly.
