Another computer connectivity question

I know this is a fairly common question and have looked and read a lot into it. My Evo 4g does absolutely nothing when I plug into my computer. It just charges, no notification on the phone, computer sees nothing. Soo before the flaming begins let me tell you what I have in fact done.

Restarted Computer
Restarted Phone via power button (power off)
Restarted Phone via battery pull
Multiple USB cables including multiple HTC cables
Multiple USB Ports
Multiple Computers (Desktop with Windows 7, Laptop with XP)

Phone settings are "Ask when I connect" for PC Connectivity
Tried with Debugging on and off. Have tried restarting between after changing options.

The main part that sucks is when I plug my wife's EVO in hers works just as intended. We just received both phones, the only difference is hers is still Android 2.2, I have used the OTA update to get 2.3. I tried restoring to factory defaults but that did not get rid of the OTA update.

So basically did I miss something that may work before I send the phone back. Just trying to root the phone, very frustrating.

If you just received your phones, then they're both most likely refurbished. OTA's are permanent.

Have you tried plugging in your wife's phone using the same USB cable as you used with your phone?

If so, then it's the phone's problem. It's not software based since you've done all of that. Go to the Sprint store you bought it from and see if they can help you out. If they can't get it to connect to the PC, then they will be forced to replace it.
