Here's another post from Samsung about their design considerations for the Note Edge.
http://global.samsungtomorrow.com/?p=43843
Some points from it:
-Getting inspiration from Nature for the design as well as also having a focus on note taking (being a Note as it is) and being modeled on index cards.
-There is also a part about one-handed use, including that the screen rotates 180 degrees and can be used in that fashion by left-handers.
-Edge screen function can adapt to main screen app.
-Mentions the already known quick access functions of the edge screen and (somewhat frustratingly without any details about what the following means) says there are exclusive accessories.
