Another issue, charger port flakiness

The last few days I have been finding that it take 3 or 4 tries to get the charger in the charging port, so that it actually is charging. I first noticed this the other day, when I had the Note turned off before going to bed, plugged in the charger. When I got up and wanted to use it, it was still at the 15% I left it at the night before, after plugging in the charger. On further inspection, I now plug it on while on, and the first few times I get a red x on the battery indicator. I have to uplug and try a few times before it seats right to get the lightening bold charging indicator to show on the battery indicator and not the red x.

Does this sound like a near future fail of the charging port, on my not even 2 week old $500 device?

Had it happen many times, normally I find it's the cable, stock ones work the best. Can you swap to another cable with the OEM charger? The shorter the cable the better. Look for a lighting bolt on the battery symbol, not and X and swap the cable, if that does not work hopefully you have another 2.1A USB charger around.

I am using the cable that came with my tab3, should I try the one that came with the Note? Arent they the same?

Yes, But having four of these I have been through this before more than once, the cable may have went half bad, it seems like whatever wire that charges it can break, though it will still work for syncing and everything else except charging. If that does not work try your different wall to USB adapters for tablets (not phones).

Thanks, it seems to do much better with the cable it came with. Thanks for the heads up. Good to know the port is not failing 2 weeks into it

No prob, You can always tell they work if you see a lighting bolt on the battery indicator. If it's like the Note 10.1 (non 2014) expect to see it often, or maybe I am just hard on cables, with that one I stopped getting the high priced stock Samsungs, bought 10 cheap ones I found on Amazon for 2 bucks each and throw one away a month as they went bad. It was cheaper that way as the stock cables were much higher and still often went out. With the now micro USB port cheap good cables should be easy to find. Though with the Note 8 and 2014 I have only been through one or two.

I use mine with the charger from the S4 and the one that came with it, no issues so far (except when I was half asleep and I wanted to use the cable that came with the Note 3... then I almost broke the thing off )
