Right, bare with me a minute
I have a pre, and love it, but the looseness of the OS and unfinished nature of it makes it difficult to cope with as a single solution device, so I have bought a cheap Android table to get a feel for the OS and to see if my next phone will be webOS or Android..
Before anyone mentions, I know that the hardware can very much effect the view of the software (remember I have a Pre) but taking this into account, and as I am a low level developer...done abit of webOS linux kernal alterations and such, as well as a part time web developer, I'm fairly sure I can get a grasp of the OS on shoddy hardware!
My question is, with my Armv9 600MHz, 128Mb RAM Tablet, could I port anything other than the stock Android 1.6? I would love to get a good feel of 2.1ness before I go out and shell the cash for a HTC...although here in the UK the choice isn't quite as ubiquitous as over the pond.
