So, an interesting situation for everyone to think about. After updating DroidSecurity.com's AntiVirus (Free) about 2 weeks ago I began to notice some intersting issues with my Droid. A list is below:
1) Haptic feedback vibration went CRAZY - random clicking noises, uneven vibration and more
2) Slow browser response
3) GPS location issues
4) Dropping of 3G coverage randomly in places other phones had Verizon 3G
5) Even lag in performance intensive apps (i.e.: HelixLauncher)
After dealling with these issues and searching the forums (including this one) to no avail, I went to Verizon and they issued a replacement.
Fast forward to today. I updated to the latest version of AntiVirus Free again simply because I receieved an update notification. Because of the annoying new, self-advertising, "Lock Screen" I became frustrated and uninstalled the app. To my surprise and utter shock, I began to realize that my vibration issues subsided, my GPS began to lock immediately, and my browser was loading like a rocket ship in comparison to before.
CRAZY - yes. Coincidence - maybe. Just a good day for this Droid - maybe, again. But this wouldn't be the first time an app caused Android OS to go haywire.
If anyone has any input, it would be most welcome. I will continue to monitor my phone and update everyone with any new findings.
