any ED01 modem GPS issues?

We all know that the Fascinate has inconsistent GPS issues. I've tried everything to get consistent satellite lock times. I would still get position fixes from 10 seconds to 10 minutes. It seemed much worse after being idle overnight.

Has anyone experienced this issue (say 1 minute fix or more) with the ED01 official Froyo modem update? I just tried mine this morning after being idle for a day and got a 10 second position fix. Did I just get lucky or did Samsung finally fix something.

GPS works great on ED01. But then again, it's been great since DJ05 (which just made it more intolerant of buildings). Most people sit inside, at their computer, and try to get a lock. When it doesn't work they're posting about problems here. Go outside, or in a vehicle (the times you NEED to use it) and it's almost instant.

I cant wait to see what a factory froyo gps is like... I have been using hacks ever since i switched to a froyo rom and the GPS is "instant" when it feels like it, and it takes forever at times too. I was travelling all day yesterday, in the car, (where i NEEDED it) and at the start of my trip it got a lock no problem. Turn off nav, tuck it away, pull it out a few hours later and fire up nav and it refused to have any clue of where i was at for about 10 solid minutes. I had good 3g coverage, i wasnt on the moon, and it still had lag like a mofo. Ugh. I cant wait to get away from these romz, i just wish i had the free time to totally rebuild my phone.

I've had the same experience with both mine and my wife's Fascinate. We could be in the car needing the GPS for navigation and drive in circles for 10 minutes trying to get a satellite fix. I will agree the DJ05 worked the best for me so far but I haven't found anything that always worked in a minute or less. I have had issues while staring at the blue sky. It's embarrasing when your friend pulls out his Motorola and says "what GPS problem". I also have a Blackberry and it is nearly instant in places my Samsung won't even work.

Hopefully the Froyo is finally the fix.

I think my GPS is possessed. I was on EB01 radio yesterday, and drove 15 minutes with no lock. On DL09, it was 15 seconds or so. So I updated to ED01, flashed Evil Fascinate, and tried it last night. It sat for almost 3 minutes with 2 sats in view, then "poof", I had 9 in use, with 11 ft accuracy. So I tried again this morning, outside on a clear day, in a rural back yard, and the same thing. After 3 minutes it 10 satellites just appeared, and instant 11 ft accurate. Then a couple minutes later they all went away, then they came right back. I still have 20 ft accuracy in my living room. But it took 3 minutes to get a lock outside with a clear view. I'm sure it's software related, as I can still get a good signal inside.
Samsung really does do crappy software.

Use the GPS fix that is around here, it did wonders for a lot of people. I will find the link in a second

I've had the exact same experiences with both of my Fascinates on every version of software. I have only been on ED01 for a day but so far I haven't had the extended lock time (yet). Are you n the ED01 radio also? I believe the only way to get it is through the official download.

Ever since thelast upgrade ( ea28) my gps has worked really well. Anytime it takes more than 15 seconds to lock I just do a battery pull and that fixes the problem pronto.

While it's great that that works, you shouldn't have to pull your battery and wait for the phone to reboot just to "fix" the GPS signal. The GPS has been a sticking point for the entire Galaxy S line right from the beginning, but I still love my phone!
