Thinking about asking Santa for a (2013) Nexus 7 Tablet. If anyone has one of these and a Razr Maxx HD please give a mini-review of the device. I'm particularly interested in battery life and build quality.

I saw a fantastic price on the N7 16 (no LTE) at Staples, $229 less $50 off any device, less $30 trade in (old Cruz tab). So for $150 I bought it, great reviews, good build, great screen. But I have yet to use it other than set up some apps. Seems to have updated to KitKat. No microSD and no micro HDMI. Not sure why I bought it. It is very nice, but so is the MaxxHD and my laptop. Have to figure how this will fit in my device use. Miracast (not on my TV), Chromecast - jerky and no Flash support, let me know how it works for you.

Thanks. I've been thinking about buying a Nexus 7, too. But I decided that I need to figure out whether there are things that a tablet could do that our new laptop and my RAZR Maxx HD cannot do.

I'm looking at a tablet rather than a laptop for easier portability, the Android OS, and less expense. I want it to browse the internet, read forums, my Feedly news feeds, maybe play some games, and listen to music. For these applications a tablet seems to be a better choice than a laptop, I think.

I have had the RAZR HD for over a year and picked up the Nexus 7 a few days ago. So far I really love it. The screen is simply beautiful and it's much snappier than the HD. Great for browsing web, forums, email, etc. I primarily bought it for use while flying (charts, flight planning, checking weather) but I'm using it more than I expected for everything else as well. Battery life has been great so far... at least good enough that I haven't really kept track of how long I'm going between charges.

Ha! Got mine for Christmas as well.

I'm getting pretty good battery life. With brightness set at about 33% I've gone almost 45 hours, with almost 6.5 hours screen time and battery was down to 14%. (When looking at these screenshots don't look at outside temp her in Mpls.)

still using the 2012... was enticed with the Lg 8.3 g.p.e, though it only has a 16 gig solid with an expandable slot.. just prefer all solid state... thinking about the ipad mini 2013 32 gig once they are available on apples refurb page.. all of the games i play are cloud based, so they will transfer over with no problem... I think it is the most viable route..

If the LG brand was absent on the top of the tablet with a solid 32 gig, i would have jumped..

i honestly feel the 2013 N7 is long in the tooth. Seems like Nexus products only hold up for a year.. after 4 hours of surfing the web, i have to charge.. I think the 2014 N7 will be on point.. or perhaps a moto tablet.. that would be awesome! Too many factors. ughhhh!

My first post!!!
Yes, I have both and love them both.
Only problem started today when Google calendar doesn't seem to be syncing with either the Maxx HD or the new Nexus.
It worked fine before today.
I actually got to a screen on the phone that said sync is not working, back soon...or something to that effect.
That was 7 hours ago, so I'm not sure what to do now. Any suggestions? Thx.

Welcome to the board.

Oh yeah! I had that same problem with calendar syncing. Got that same message too. Another symptom was that calendar events added to my Nexus would show up on my phone but events added on my phone would not appear on the Nexus.

I was going crazy Googling for a solution when I noticed the icon for the calendar on my Nexus was blue with the number 31 on it and the icon for the calendar on my Maxx HD was green with cubes. I then checked the version number for each calendar and saw they were different. My solution was to download the Google Calendar app from the Play store onto my Maxx HD. Once I had the same version of the calendar app on both devices there was joy to be had in syncing.

The calendar on my nexus shows the 31, the one on my maxx HD shows the actual date..
